Hampshire Constabulary will use UK City of Culture 2025 as springboard for change

16 Jul, 2021

Hampshire Constabulary are the latest organisation to pledge their longstanding support for Southampton to become UK City of Culture 2025.

We are thrilled that Hampshire Constabulary are supporting not only our bid, but also the winning year in 2025 should Southampton be successful. They have actively pledged to use the bid as a springboard for change throughout the organisation including reviewing their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion; working towards representation throughout the force, supporting communities across Southampton to make the city a safer place to live, work and visit.

Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney said, “Hundreds of police officers and staff live in and serve the local community. There are opportunities in supporting this bid to improve representation and diversity across our workforce, to continue our work with partners to reduce crimes that cause the most harm, and to improve our response in respect of hate crimes.”

Our bid is for everyone and we look forward to working with Hampshire Constabulary to make Southampton an even more welcoming and inclusive city.
