As theatres and venues begin to re-open we are delighted to announce Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios as our first Programme Partners.
Mayflower Theatre has a longstanding history in the city, welcoming over 500,000 customers each year, and engaging with over 34,000 local people in 2019/20 through its community programme.
Opening its doors earlier this year, MAST is situated in the heart of the Cultural Quarter and is home to a number of Southampton’s vibrant cultural organisations including SoCo Music Project, Artful Scribe, ZoieLogic Dance Theatre and Our Version Media.
Currently, we are developing many partnerships with the cultural organisations across the city to deliver our bid to be UK City of Culture 2025. Our bid will bring the city’s strong cultural sector together and aid recovery after the challenges of COVID-19.
Michael Ockwell, Chief Executive of Mayflower Theatre and MAST said “We are delighted to become programme partners for the City of Culture 2025 bid. The theatre has built strong relationships with all of the cultural organisations in the city as it is so important to work in unison for our local community to provide a diverse programme of events and performances. Alongside the main programme of shows on stage, we continue to offer cultural activity in the local and regional community through our outreach programme. Our continued investment in our community work also allows us to support young people by offering opportunities for them to harness their own creativity.”
