Southampton Football club is proudly supporting Southampton’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2025. The launch of a new campaign, At One Behind the Bid, is highlighting the significance of football within the cultural landscape of the city and its people.
The club has shown its backing for the bid previously, with first captain James Ward-Prowse becoming a Southampton 2025 ambassador. Watch his ambassador video here.
Gemma Nichols, the commercial and marketing director for Southampton 2025’s UK City of Culture bid, said: “We are delighted to have the support from Southampton Football Club for our bid to become UK City of Culture 2025. Football is a huge part of Southampton’s culture, therefore the backing of the Club is a key component to the bid.
“We hope that through this campaign the pride of the Saints fans will shine through showcasing the spirit of our city and it’s winning ambitions to become UK City of Culture 2025.”
