Southampton Airport Joins as Our Latest City Partner, Supporting Southampton’s Ambitions to Become UK City of Culture 2025

Southampton’s bid to become City of Culture 2025 bid has reached a new high following its newest backing.

Southampton Airport is the latest partner showing their support in the city’s efforts to become UK City of Culture 2025. The airport provides hundreds of flights to international and national destinations using some of the world’s leading airlines. 

The partnership between both the airport and Southampton 2025 has been described as “key” to helping showcase Southampton’s incredible international links. 

Following the announcement, Steve Szalay, Operations Director at Southampton Airport, said: 

“Southampton and our region has so many great qualities.  Beautiful and glorious countryside sits side by side with key national infrastructure. The ports and airports of the region bring much needed investment and trade bringing prosperity to the area by taking advantage of the location and the connectivity the airline can provide.”

Steve continued: “We are delighted to back the bid with a number of high-profile businesses.”

Southampton International Airport is proud to be playing its part and sing the praises of this amazing city.”

Located just five miles north of the city’s renowned international cruise port, which itself boasts four terminals and 45 berths, Southampton Airport serves a multitude of destinations with fantastic outward connections to the world.

This partnership will not only support us to enable access for visitors to the city and wider region if we are successful with our bid.
