Meet our Latest Local Ambassadors!

We are pleased to announce our latest ambassadors to back Southampton’s bid to be UK City of Culture 2025, Sally Churchward, Peter Hull MBE and Dr Abdoulie Sanneh

Drawn from different parts of the city and representing the diverse voices and cultures from across Southampton.  These local ambassadors join with the bid’s increasing cohort of local and national ambassadors including Craig David MBE, Bill Woodrow, Charlotte Edwards CBE, Baroness Floella Benjamin, Ed Vaizey, Jenny Packham, Kate Prince MBE Lawrie McMenemy MBE and Zakir Hussian.

Dr. Abdoulie Sanneh, Community Cohesion and Diversity Officer talking about culture said:

“I want to enjoy different cultures. I want to share my culture with people. Southampton creates extraordinary people from all backgrounds.”

Sally Churchward, Editor at In Common talking about community life in Southampton said:

“If you want to be a part of a community in Southampton, that’s a very, very easy thing to do. There’s a big mix of people here from all different backgrounds all bringing different things together.”


Peter Hull MBE, Paralympian said about Southampton:

“Whatever you want to do, you look hard enough, and there is something for everybody. Culture isn’t just about your religion or where you’re from- it’s what sport you do, what art are you in interested in, it’s the way you live your life.”
